What to see in Turkey ?

As it happens, the image of Turkey is closely associated with all-inclusive service in resort hotels. At the same time, Turkey is a very interesting country with amazing nature and rich history. Here are a few places worth seeing with your own eyes.

Istanbul

The city that was the capital of four empires: Roman, Byzantine, Latin and Ottoman. There is a record number of sights here, so let's start with the main ones: Hagia Sophia Cathedral, the Blue Mosque, Suleymaniye Mosque, the luxurious Topkapi Palace and the mysterious Basilica Cistern, which can be called the most beautiful "water pipe" in history. And of course, enjoy the views of the Bosphorus with a cup of aromatic Turkish tea.

Cappadocia

This place is world famous for its alien landscape. The main thing in Cappadocia is a huge national park "Göreme". This is an open-air museum - there are many rock formations, cave churches and monastic buildings. It is cool to admire all this from the heights - many people come here just for the sake of meeting the dawn in a hot air balloon.

Side

The most important sights of the ancient town of Side are the Temple of Apollo and the Roman amphitheater. From the temple remained a few fragments, but the amphitheater was more "resistant" - still preserved stage and most of the spectator seats, and it could accommodate more than 20 thousand people.

Selcuk

This is the name of the modern city on the territory of ancient Greek Ephesus. The obligatory point of the program in this part of Turkey is the temple of Artemis, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Other interesting objects are the remains of the ancient library of Celsus and the Temple of Hadrian, which twice appeared on Turkish banknotes.

Pamukkale

This place is famous for its thermal springs. The secret of snow-white terraced baths is in the saturation of water with calcium. The springs are part of a single complex with the ancient city of Hierapolis - you can walk around the ancient amphitheater, and then take a dip in Cleopatra's pool, where the water temperature is 35 degrees all year round.
