How to open a company in Turkey ?
Opening a sole proprietorship (sole proprietorship) in Turkey for foreigners is subject to certain requirements and restrictions.
Conditions for registration of IE
- Residence permit (residence permit): A foreign citizen must have a valid residence permit and reside continuously in Turkey for at least five years.
- Work Permit: After five years of residence, a work permit must be obtained from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
Without fulfilling these conditions, it is not possible to register a sole proprietorship.
Alternative options
Foreigners may consider registering a limited liability company (LLC) or a joint stock company (JSC). The process of company registration in Turkey for non-residents is simplified and is available on equal terms with the citizens of the country. Most often the form of LLC is chosen, and the cost of registration starts from 1204 Turkish Liras (approximately 67 USD).
The main steps for setting up a sole proprietorship
- Having a valid residence permit and continuous residence in the country for at least 5 years.
- Obtaining a work permit.
- Preparation of the necessary founding documents.
- Registration in the Commercial Register.
- Obtaining a tax number.
- Opening a bank account.
All documents must be notarized.
Important: In order to work directly in a registered company in Turkey, a foreigner will still need a work permit.
