Why everyone flies to Oludeniz and how do those who stay there forever live?

Oludeniz is a unique resort in Turkey, known for its natural beauty, crystal clear waters and ideal conditions for paragliding. This is the place where the mountains meet the sea, where the silence of nature meets active recreation, and culture meets modern comfort. Here you can forget about the everyday hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in a world of vivid impressions, relaxation and freedom.

Geography and features of the region

Oludeniz is located in the province of Mugla, not far from the city of Fethiye. The village itself is nestled at the foot of Mount Babadag, on the shore of the Aegean Sea. Translated from Turkish "Oludeniz" means "Dead Sea" - the name is given because of the extraordinary calmness of the water in the bay, which is protected from waves by a natural reef.

This region is famous for its mild climate, abundance of sunny days and clean mountain air. Temperatures are comfortable throughout most of the year: summers are hot but with cool breezes, while spring and fall are warm and pleasant, ideal for sightseeing and hiking.

Beach and Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon of Oludeniz is on the list of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is a nature reserve where construction and motor boats are prohibited. Here you can enjoy tranquility, turquoise water and scenery reminiscent of a tropical paradise. Entrance to the lagoon is paid, which allows you to maintain cleanliness and order.

Beljekiz Beach, adjacent to the Blue Lagoon, offers more activity: cafes, bars, water rides, beach volleyball. It is especially beautiful here at sunset, when the sun sinks below the horizon, reflecting in the sea.

Paragliding is the heart of Oludeniz's adventures

Mount Babadağ (height 1969 m) is an internationally recognized place for paragliding. Due to its unique geographical position and thermal flows, flying here is considered one of the safest and most scenic in the world. Hundreds of paragliders from different countries come here every year to experience the unforgettable feeling of flying over the sea.

Flights are organized both for professionals and beginners - in tandem with experienced instructors. Before taking off, tourists are taken to the top of the mountain on a serpentine road, and from here the views are breathtaking. You can fly in the sky for about 30-40 minutes, and the whole process takes up to 2 hours. GoPro helmet mounted cameras capture every second of this flight.

Butterfly Valley and protected areas

A few kilometers from Oludeniz is Butterfly Valley, a secluded bay surrounded by high cliffs. It is a place that can only be reached by water. More than 80 species of butterflies grow here, including rare specimens. In summer, the valley turns into a living exhibition of nature: butterflies fly everywhere, creating a fabulous atmosphere.

The beach in the Butterfly Valley is pure sand and blue water, and overnight stays in a tent or wooden huts add to the adventure. Tourists often stay here overnight to welcome the dawn away from civilization.

Excursions and activities

In addition to paragliding and beach vacations, Oludeniz offers many excursions:

  • TheLycian Trail is an ancient route along the coast, through forests, mountains and ancient villages. Ideal for trekking.
  • Boat or catamaran cruises, including stops at secluded coves for swimming and snorkeling.
  • Diving - the underwater world off the coast of Oludeniz is rich in coral and marine life.
  • Trip to Saklikent - a canyon 300 meters deep and 18 km long, where you can walk along the river between steep cliffs.
  • Hammam and Spa - for those who prefer to relax after an active day.

Accommodation and infrastructure

Oludeniz offers a variety of accommodation options: from budget apartments and hostels to luxury hotels with panoramic pools and all-inclusive. Boutique hotels in traditional style with sea and mountain views are particularly popular. Many hotels offer transfers, excursions and transportation rentals.

There are many restaurants on the seafront serving Mediterranean, Turkish and European cuisine. Especially popular is the fresh seafood - grilled dorada, calamari and mussels. In the evenings the resort comes alive: live music is played in cafes, cocktail bars, show programs and discos are held.

How to get there

The nearest airport is Dalaman (about 60 km away). From there you can easily get there by cab, rented car or shuttle bus. Transfers from tour companies are also available. The drive from the airport takes about 1.5 hours.

For those who travel independently, there is a developed network of bus routes connecting Oludeniz with Fethiye, Marmaris and other cities.
