Turkish dessert künefe
When in Turkey, be sure to try künefe. This curious dessert originating from the Hatay region in the south of the country consists of unsweetened ingredients - thin crispy kadaif vermicelli made of semolina and goat cheese melted at serving temperature. The dessert character of the dish is obtained due to the impregnation with sweet syrup.
Sometimes kühnefe is served with a scoop of ice cream - a cool contrast not only of textures, but also of temperatures.
